SOUTHERN GAUL. Volcae-Arecomici. Late 2nd-early 1st century BC. Drachm (Silver, 13 mm, 3.29 g), 'au panache' type. Celticized male head with elaborate hair and African features to left. Rev. Large cross with three pellets and one annulet in quarters; each quarter bound by crescent. CCCBM S125. LT pl. VIII, Ch. Robert (F). Savès 76. SLM 79. Beautifully toned and with particularly elaborate flowing hair. Struck on a slightly short flan, otherwise, good very fine.
